Making a Difference Through Affordable Housing
For more than four decades, Mennonite Housing has provided affordable housing for families and senior citizens with low incomes. We offer apartments for seniors and apartments for low income families in Kansas including Wichita and surrounding areas, including Andover, Benton, Clearwater, Coffeyville, Derby, Newton, and Valley Center.
The search for affordable housing is difficult for many families who have lower incomes and for seniors who are on fixed incomes. According to the Pew Research Center, the average rent has risen 18% over the last five years, outpacing inflation. The most recent Census data shows that 46% of American renters spend 30% or more (some up to 50%) of their income on housing.
Mennonite Housing provides opportunities for home ownership for people who qualify. Additionally, we provide access to apartments for seniors and apartments for low income families. Mennonite Housing also provides services such as home repair assistance and credit counseling services.
We work with the community to develop rental properties for households in our area whose incomes are below 60% of the area median income.
We manage rental properties in Kansas for seniors (55+), families, and individuals with special needs whose incomes are below 60% of the area median income.
We build new homes for homebuyers whose incomes are below 80% of the area median. We also work with prospective customers to help them qualify for permanent financing and for grant funding from the City of Wichita.
We provide supervision and financial support for home repair services related to health and safety and weatherization including painting, HVAC and more for homeowners whose incomes are below 80% of the area median income.
