I would like to thank you for your interest in our housing program. Mennonite Housing's Homeownership Project is an opportunity to purchase an affordable home in one of the seven Local Investment Areas. The seven areas are: Northcentral, Northeast, Delano, Orchard Breeze, Hilltop, Planeview and Southcentral .The program is designed for income eligible homebuyers who have annual incomes at or below 80% of median income for Sedgwick County. For example, if you are a single parent with two children, the maximum annual income you could have would be $44,050. The following items outline some specifics of the program.

- Maximum Sales Price: $85,700
- The applicant must be able to qualify with a local lending institution for the mortgage on the property at reasonable and customary interest rates.
- The applicant is responsible for paying a minimum of $1,000 into the purchase contract. Paying loan application fees, earnest money deposits, inspection fees, and any prepaid costs associated with the sales transaction may be credited to the $1,000 requirement. The amount paid by the applicant is dependent on the down payment, closing costs, and the loan package as provided by the lending institution. You may need slightly more than the minimum $1,000 to purchase a home.
- Applicants must complete the Homeownership Training Class offered by Mennonite Housing before the closing. One of the most important aspects of homeownership is being able to budget personal resources for planned spending and save for emergencies like major repairs on the house or car, extended illnesses or job loss. The homeownership trainers will help you develop a household budget.
