Mennonite Housing Honored at the NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet
Wichita, Kan. — The Wichita Branch NAACP honored sixteen leaders in the community during their 93rd Annual Freedom Fund Banquet held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Wichita Marriott.
Andy Bias, President/CEO of Mennonite Housing accepted the Community/Neighborhood/Civic Association Award on behalf of all employees of the organization.
Other Legacy Honors were presented to 10 indivuduals in recognition of their outstanding actions and services. This year's Legacy Award recipients were: Robert Alford, Edith Knox, Maxine Bostic, Emmadell Robinson, Bess Dreams, Annie Mae Smith-Work, Diggs Construction, Frank Crawford Jr., Willia Crawford and Ida Njie. Other Awards presented were: Clergy of the Year--Father James Billinger; Janett Jackson Community Service Award --Janet Wilson; H.T. Sims Excellence in Education Award--Judy Wright; Chester I. Lewis Distinguished Service Award--Bonita Gooch; Person of the Year--Bill Warren.
The speakers for the evening were Curtis McClinton, Jr. and KS Senator David Haley. |
